Manick Pratheeban

Manick comes from a background in strategy consulting and marketing research. Moving on from his market research career, he gained experience in brand management at Fonterra Brands, followed by a stint at a US–based strategic consulting firm where he worked with private equities, mid-market and Fortune 50 companies.

Thereafter, Manick moved to the UK and joined a leading market research company as an Associate Director in their Consumer Packaged Goods team. Since joining Bonamy Finch in July 2010 he has managed a major international product development programme and a brand re-positioning study. Manick has an MA in Applied Social & Market Research from the University of Westminster as well as an MBA.

Does market research fuel or kill innovation?

The classic example of market research helping innovation is the introduction of Swiffer. However, if the research is not used properly, it could kill innovation.

What do you think are the keys to success in the marketing research Industry?

Strong analytical skills to unearth insights that are not obvious, lateral thinking and a passion for research.

Do you think social media can make someone social?

It’s akin to asking whether the computer could make you smart.  Both are just tools...

If you are retired, what will you do? 

Buy a farm where I can plant various crops and raise goats and chickens.  I like the outdoors.

Do you think that movie theatres will continue to exist?

Theatres aren't going anywhere... nothing like seeing a blockbuster on the big screen.
